About RIO:
By the river Nile, and in the heart of Giza governorate in Cairo, stands the Research institute of ophthalmology (RIO), representing the highly recognized pioneer sub-specialized ophthalmic centre in the Middle East.

RIO combines both clinical and research services. RIO aims at prevention of blindness, enhancing ophthalmic services, and promotes ophthalmic education through open channels with international centres.

Our building consists of eight floors, housing up to ten specialized and investigative clinics, along with updated labs, X-ray and electron microscope units. Moreover, RIO has eight highly updated operative theatres .

In the ground floor, patients enter the Excimer Laser Unit, with the latest integrated machine and clinic, for laser refractive surgery and follow up equipment.. Furthermore, RIO has a rich electronic library of 1267 books, 77 medical periodicals, 450 master and doctor theses, and 60 DVDs.

The animal house contains pure animal species for research purposes along with an operative theatre.

The main conference hall which is located on the first and second floors, contains 220 seats, well equipped with audio visual preparation and instant translation microphones.
Our institute offers its advanced medical services at economic prices, and free services to the poor.
